Questions about automatically translations.

FAQ Translation
  • The automatic translation into my native language does not work. Everything is displayed in English or in another language.
The autonomous translation into your native language depends solely on the basic language setting of your browser (settings-language). If this is set to French, for example, all texts will be displayed in this language, even though your device, such as a PC, may set to English language settings.
Another reason could be a previously manually set language for our website, e.g. by another user. In any case, you can set your language by clicking on the blue world globe above. Here you can choose almost any language in the world. You can set the most important languages in the translation menu at the top right of the header. The manual setting for the language then applies permanently in the browser used for visiting our website.
A final reason is using an outdated browser (e.g. Microsoft Internet Explorer) that can only display the site’s native language (English) or you use a script blocker.
Last but not least, the behavior could be caused by the fact that you have deactivated the slider for peferences in the cookie consent manager or denied any consent.

  • The manual selection of the translation language does not work.
You are probably using the Microsoft Edge browser in Microsoft Explorer mode. Go to Settings and more (use ALT+F or the menupoint above right) and Exit Internet Explorer mode in the pop-up window.
You may also be using an outdated or unsupported browser.
A script blocker could be causing this error or you have deactivated the setting for preferences in the cookie consent manager or rejected the consent altogether. Some times you have to reload the page to have an effect after changing the settings of the cookie consent manager.

  • I would like to turn on automatic language translation again (autonomous language selection).
You can only select automatic language translation again by deleting the googtrans cookie or all cookies for our website. How to delete cookies in the most browsers is described here.

  • I do not understand the automatically translated text.
Google’s language translation service sometimes works poorly.
Set the language to English and translate the texts using another language service if you don’t understand English. Under certain circumstances, another browser translates the texts better, too.

Generell Questions

What is JavaScript?

JavaScript is a description language that was originally developed for web browsers to evaluate user interactions (e.g. with forms), to change, reload or generate content and thus to expand the possibilities of the standard languages HTML and CSS for programming websites. Some JavaScripts also run on third-party servers, such as google maps. Unfortunately, in the past, hackers were repeatedly able to gain unauthorized access to user devices via JavaScript, although the responsible organizational unit quickly closes any security gaps that arise. Therefore, some users turn off JavaScript in their browsers as a precaution. They may also do this because they distrust the external scripts on other servers because of alleged data theft.

On Mathias Schäfer‘s website you will find further information on JavaScript and possible danger points. ( just in German)

Does JavaScript have to be activated in my browser?

JavaScript should be activated in your browser in order to be able to use our website to the full extent. In the main, JavaScript is only used on our website to enable image animations and translations into the languages offered. The forms and the route planner also require JavaScript support so that you can send us your request, as well as the cookie routine.

If you do not use or do not want to use the functions offered, you can deactivate JavaScript without any other restrictions.
